On Wednesday, December 15th at 2:30 pm, Welcome to Korea International Club had its 5th-anniversary celebration. Due to the pandemic and strict restriction of the government policy, we're worried that we might not be able to hold the birthday party, but it went pretty well. Over 80 people including ambassadors and officers of the foreign embassy came to celebrate on the 18th floor, Press Center.
After singing the national anthem, President Jungsook Kim introduced the guests and gave a welcoming speech. Among the invited guests were former members of the National Assembly. Dr. Chongin Kim, the General election commissioner of People Power party, Ms. Kyungwon Na, the former member of the National Assembly, Dr. Baeyong Lee, the former president of Ewha Women's University, and Dr. Jungsook Suh, a member of the National Assembly. Quite a renowned people. Just by looking at them gave us the feeling of festivity. Adding those people, His excellency Abdula Saif Al Nuaimi from UAE and Her excellency Maria Theresa Dizon-De Vega from the Phillippines came and gave a fabulous congratulatory message.
A special award, A Marian Adair Spirit Award, was presented to Ms. Youngbock Lee, a Board member of Welcome to Korea International Club for her excellent leadership and contribution to the growth of WKIC.
On the 2nd part of the party, there was a congratulatory performance by Prof. Kyungjun Park, a baritone. He sang Chanson 'de Toreador' of Bizet’s opera 'Carmen' and 'One Nice Day in October' by Secret Garden.
Originally after cake cutting time, the refreshment was expected to be given, but the Raffle took place instead of Toast due to the COVID-19. Eighty-four gifts were ready to go, and people were so thrilled as the drawing went on. Such a lovely time!~
